Cultivation Advice Stokes’ aster remains evergreen over mild winters. A North American wildflower, Stokesia is a low maintenance, perennial with large lilac-blue cornflower-like blooms on low growing plants. Attractive to beas and butterflies, Stokesia has a long flowering season and the blooms are very good for cutting.

Drought tolerant, lightly fragranced and delightful seed heads to follow the flowers, this easy plant will fast become a favourite.

Sow Stokesia seed indoors from January to April. Germination averages 20 days at 65-75F.

When large enough to handle, prick out the seedlings into 3 inch pots and grow on cooler 60-65F before transferring into the garden when the plants are large enough.
